Citrix expands Receiver to Android
Citrix, which offers its Receiver technology to users of Apple's iPhone and RIM's BlackBerry smartphone, is now looking to bring those capabilities to mobile devices running Google's Android operating system, reports eWeek.
Receiver lets mobile device users access their Microsoft Windows applications anywhere.
Plug-ins in Receiver communicate with desktop virtualisation products from Citrix, including XenDesktop and XenApp, which are housed in the data centre.
American Express signs virtualisation deal
American Express has signed a deal with IBM for the provision of IT services which will involve an overhaul of its server environment, states Computing.co.uk.
Under the agreement, IBM will manage the mid-range server set-up of the credit card firm.
The supplier's work is expected to translate into “advanced levels” of energy savings and standardisation, while virtualisation is also expected to play a bigger part in the company's server room.
HP strengthens virtualisation channel
HP India is urging its enterprise partners to push the vendor's virtualisation portfolio, says Computer Reseller News.
Later this year, the vendor will also introduce the HP Virtualisation Bundle targeted at small to medium businesses customers.
“Market trends and forces are heavily favouring virtualisation solutions, and we have the best of breed solutions in this space. Recession apart, there's a motivation to reduce costs including saving energy bills among all enterprise and large mid-market customers in India,” explained Aman Neil Dokania, VP and GM of infrastructure software, HP Asia-Pacific and Japan.
