Citrix rolls out VDI-in-a-Box

Citrix unveiled a new set of desktop virtualisation offerings for small and midsize enterprises (SMEs), highlighted by the release of an all-new version of Citrix VDI-in-a-Box, eChannel Line reports.

An all-in-one virtual desktop solution designed specifically for SMEs, which it acquired with Kaviza earlier this year.

EWeek reveals that Citrix added a solution combining VDI-in-a-Box and the Citrix GoToManage cloud-based support offering, making it possible for managed service providers and IT staff to remotely monitor and support virtual desktop deployments at multiple sites or customer locations.

“Small and midsize organisations are increasingly acknowledging the need to streamline their desktop management with VDI, but they are often faced with significant deployment challenges,” said Rafael Colorado, director of desktop virtual solutions for Dell.

Citrix further revealed that its new SME initiative also includes widespread support for thousands of Citrix-ready products from business such as Dell and Wyse that will offer validated hardware and software solutions consumed by small and midsize businesses, Virtualisation Review notes.

“The combination of Citrix VDI-in-a-Box 5, Citrix GoToManage, the support of a strong Citrix Ready ecosystem, and a new SMB Specialist channel program, all help to extend the benefits of going virtual at the desktop to tens of thousands of small and medium businesses worldwide,” the company said.
