The City of Umhlathuze has awarded GijimaAst, the new ICT powerhouse formed through the merger between the AST Group and Gijima Technologies, the implementation of a PABX system and wide area network (WAN) upgrade.
The upgraded WAN will provide the City of Umhlathuze with an improved network providing more bandwidth and quality of service features. In addition, the quality of service on the implementation of the local area network will ensure the delivery of quality voice/IP services throughout the city.
"GijimaAst has extensive skills in the voice/IP technology arena, and more specifically the voice and data convergence area," explains Gavin Labuschagne, Regional Manager KZN for GijimaAst`s Networks division.
"The GijimaAst solution proposed utilises the latest in voice/IP products from Philips. These products are feature-rich with features currently found in legacy systems as well as all the IP application-based additional features, such as integrated voice and data e-mail."
The voice/IP PBX system will allow the city to have a centralised operator function, as well as central telephone management with least-cost routing and configuration resulting in a significant cost saving.
