Clarion MD TK Tan said that, in two months, the car manufacturers with whom it was working with would get a trial run of the units, designed and assembled in Penang.

Clarion is now working with branded car manufacturers such as Proton, Perodua, Nissan Malaysia and Nissan Thailand to make the customised Clarion Mirage sets for them.

According to Business Times, Tan said the company, which is a global leader in in-vehicle infotainment, is also looking to market the product in Russia, South America and India.

In addition, the company is planning to employ 60 engineers over the next three years, to focus on the , electronics and mechanical aspects of the product.

"We are now collaborating with the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC) and Talent Corporation to train engineering students," he added.

The Clarion Mirage, an integrated audiovisual-navigation unit, equipped with a 6.5-inch screen and the iconic Android touch-screen graphical user interface, offers connectivity to an Android or iPod device via Bluetooth streaming or a USB connection.

It also offers playback of audiovisual content, audio files, video files and still images, direct from a SD/SHDC card or a USB device.
