Cloud-based VOIP on the rise

Cloud-based voice over protocol (VOIP) solutions will become a common sight in the work environment, according to an expert, writes Computeach.

Dave Dadds, deputy chairman of the Federation of Communication Services and MD of Vanillaip.com, says while this might not be the case among consumers, VOIP has been around businesses for quite some time.

He noted that alternatives will always involve a lot of “hand cranking” to ensure the solutions continue to run smoothly, states Telappliant.

“So really, the fact of whether it's sitting in a service provider's centre or your own office doesn't really make that much difference to the fundamental issue of tenanted or one-to-one hosting,” Dadds stated.

Using the service as part of a managed hosting could bring a number of additional benefits for businesses, compared with those using the method on a one-to-one basis, reports Outsourcery.

Earlier this month, the expert claimed the innovative communication technique held advantages for both small and large organisations alike.
