Cloud to generate EUR750bn for EU

According to the Cloud Dividend report released by storage solutions maker EMC, the sector stands to earn more than double that of the industry.

The study, which was conducted by the EMC and the Centre for Economics and Business Research, focused on the impact of cloud computing on key industries in European nations of France, Spain, Germany, Italy and UK.

Hostway says around 300 000 new jobs could be created in the UK by cloud computing over the next four years, according to new research.

Findings by EMC, it adds, found that the Europe, Middle East and Africa area of the world will create 2.4 million jobs as a whole.

Furthermore, the financial benefit to the technology's adoption will be around EUR763 billion, as cost savings are put to extra use elsewhere in businesses.

Meanwhile, Fresh Business Thinking reports that standing to benefit most from the roll-out of cloud computing services are the , retail and hotels sectors, with more than EUR233 billion in value expected to be created.
