Analytix has received very positive reviews from delegates regarding its recently enhanced COBIT 4.0 IT governance training course.
This is according to Johan Botha, Managing Director of Analytix.
"Analytix reworked its COBIT Implementation training course at the end of last year to include the significantly updated features of the latest version of COBIT that was released by the IT Governance Institute (ITGI) in December 2005," says Botha.
The new edition - COBIT 4.0 - provides a stronger business focus in order to address the evolving responsibilities of boards as well as IT professionals and employees. COBIT 4.0 marks the first major update of the core content since the release of the third edition in 2000.
Botha continues: "The enhanced structure of COBIT 4.0 makes it so much easier to explain and position the various components to our training delegates. This has led to a much more positive learning experience and better understanding of the COBIT 4.0 framework structure and its application."
"COBIT 4.0 has succeeded in `smoothing` out the divide between the control aspects (audit) and the management guidelines (IT) that existed in the previous version," Botha comments. "COBIT 4.0 has integrated the IT control aspects with the IT management guidelines into a single unified IT governance framework. This IT governance framework consists of an executive overview, IT control framework, core content (such as control objectives and management guidelines) and appendices."
COBIT 4.0 includes best practice guidance for boards of directors, management and staff. The core content is divided according to the 34 IT process and gives a complete picture of how to control, manage and measure each of the IT processes.
Some of the key features of COBIT 4.0 include:
* Mapping to the five IT governance domains to identify potential gaps
* RACI (Responsibility, Accountability, Consulted, Informed) information for each of the 34 IT processes
* Key goal indicator (KGI) and key performance indicator (KPI) relationships, identifying how KPIs drive the achievement of KGIs
* Providing useful information on the linking and alignment of the business goals, IT goals and IT processes
"COBIT has become the umbrella IT governance framework integrating various IT governance best practices, framework and standards. COBIT is also widely used as a tool for corporate governance (King II) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. As such, the new addition provides very useful information to assist with the mapping between COBIT to other standards, frameworks and methodologies that are also required for corporate and IT governance compliance (ITIL, ISO 17799, ISO27001, PAS56, CMM, COSO, Prince 2, PMBOK, ISF, etc)," explains Botha.
He adds: "This eases the task of understanding the different roles that all of these complementary frameworks play, and identifying which IT controls are required for compliance."
Analytix`s practical two-day hands-on COBIT 4.0 Implementation training workshop is designed for IT professionals, IT auditors and management that deal with the complexities of IT management and control functions on a daily basis.
The objective is to provide attendees with the necessary perspective, knowledge and skills to understand the risks and benefits of IT. In addition, delegates will learn how to use COBIT 4.0 in understanding the requirements needed to design and implement appropriate IT controls, ie policies, procedures, practices, and the allocation of responsibility and accountability that are required to establish the right levels of IT governance for their organisations.
Advantages of the Analytix COBIT 4.0 Implementation training is that it allows CISA and CISM professionals to claim CPE hours, and prepares delegates for writing ISACA`s online COBIT 4.0 Foundation exam.
