Collabtive releases PM update
Collabtive has unveiled a version of its open source Web-based project management application by the same name, says Computerworld.
Collabtive 0.4.5 is a new release that brings a mix of new functionality, bug fixes and improvements, according to its parent, Open Dynamics Web Development, based in Germany.
Version 0.4.5 introduces vCard export for user profiles so users can easily import contact data into PIM software; improved user profiles which adds gender, postcode and URL; and time tracking for tasks which allows "time tracking" to be done for each task individually.
PMI boosts PM effectiveness
Since its founding in 1969, the non-profit Project Management Institute has grown to be the organisation of choice for more than 270 000 project management professionals worldwide, with more than 200 chartered chapters in 125 countries, states Times & Transcript.
Membership has increased by 350% over the last five years, and for good reason, says Varouje Kouyoumdjian, a certified PMP and an active member of PMI-NB Chapter.
At its most basic, Kouyoumdjian explains, PMI's PMBOK Guide (A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge) teaches you how to better manage "projects," regardless of what those projects are.
ATP opens Alliance PMG
According to eMediaWire, Alliance Technology Partners (ATP) has opened the Alliance Project Management Group, a professional services team focused on helping organisations to improve productivity, reduce costs and increase overall business effectiveness.
In addition to project management consulting services and support, Alliance PMG, has partnered with AtTask to provide customers access to @task, the on-demand project and portfolio management software application.
