Business Unusual and Scotland-based Kinross Computer Systems today launched Kinross`s specialist commodities trading solution, Kit.

Financial solutions company Business Unusual reported in June that it had won the exclusive southern African rights to market Kit.

Speaking at the launch of Kit in Sandton this morning, Business Unusual MD Dion Retief said his company had searched for "an all-encompassing commodities trading package for some time".

The company came into contact with Kinross Computer Systems and became involved in the development of Kit, which he says addresses the full commodities trading cycle.

The system has many advantages, among them being that it is commodity neutral, current neutral and integrates with other systems and products.

"In March we went to Scotland to test it, and we were absolutely stunned when we saw the product. We found no fault with what was presented to us. They didn`t miss a thing."

Kit product director Rose Chalmers says the package comprises various modules, which users can mix and match according to their needs.

The main functions involve contract agreement, position information, matching, executing, invoicing, and integration with Microsoft Great Plains ledgers.

James Johnston, Kit software product development manager, says the package is easily integrated with other applications, which allows exporting information to Word, Excel and even the .

Business can also be set up to send e-mail or SMS messages for various reasons, such as contracts overdue for movement.

Chalmers says Kinross is committed to ongoing enhancement of the product, with each subsequent release adding functionality according to customers` needs.

Kinross provides Web-based support for its partners, and this will be extended to end-users over the next year.
