The Gauteng Provincial Government has launched a multi-purpose community centre (MPCC) in Dobsonville, Soweto.
Khabisi Mosunkutu, Gauteng MEC for agriculture, conservation and environment, officially opened the centre on Friday.
"The establishment of this MPCC, the 18th in the province since 2000, is indeed a bold example of government`s delivery on its commitments," said Mosunkutu.
"The centre will include community-based organisations, non-governmental organisations, parastatals and business services such as telecentres with fax machines, computers and Internet services.
"This is one important element of ensuring the people are provided with developmental communication facilities."
The MPCCs will also host the Government Communication and Information System, and a People`s Centre where municipal complaints can be addressed.
The Gauteng Provincial Government plans to establish 40 MPCCs by the end of 2009.
