The incorporation of the 333MHz and 366MHz Mobile Pentium II processors into the highly popular Armada line continues Compaq`s promise to offer its customers the latest technology available, with minimal changes to the BIOS, software and options - enabling customers to seamlessly transition and build upon their existing platforms.

Armada 7000 Series: Desktop Equivalence Through Superior Expansion An ideal match for the power enthusiast whose top priority is state-of-the-art features, the Armada 7000 Series offers industry-leading desktop expansion capabilities. With today`s announcement, the Armada 7800 now features Intel`s Mobile Pentium II processor at 366MHz, while the Armada 7400 features Intel`s Mobile Pentium II processor at 333MHz.
In addition, both products now include larger hard drives - a 14.1GB hard drive for the Armada 7800, and a 6.4GB hard drive for the Armada 7400. New battery technology via higher density, longer life lithium ion (Li-Ion) batteries gives more than three hours1 of battery life on the Armada 7800 and three and a half hours on the Armada 7400.
Described as a "rock stable notebook computer that can keep pace with or surpass the best efforts of any in its class," the Armada 7400 was recently awarded the "Lizzie Award" by Portable Computing Magazine. Both the Armada 7400 and Armada 7800 Series use the ArmadaStation II for robust docking at the desk, with or without the optional Tower Stand to save valuable space. This revolutionary expansion base provides for all the usual peripheral connections, plus two half-height drive/modular bays, two full length slots for industry standard expansion (PCI or ISA), two CardBus PC card slots and integrated Ethernet. For port replication with Ethernet, the Armada MiniStation E is also available for both products.
The Armada 7000 Series offers users the option of Windows 95 or Windows NT standard. Armada 1700 Series: The All-in-One Designed for Convenience & Simplicity Continuing to enhance the Armada 1700 Series, Compaq today introduced the Armada 1750-the ultimate all-in-one portable PC combining the latest high performance technology with uncompromising value. The Armada 1750 offers customers a new highly durable design including Compaq`s first implementation of a spill resistant keyboard and a shock resistant hard drive enclosure in a notebook PC. Additionally, the Armada 1750 provides customers with significant enhancements of products, incorporating a new AGP graphics chipset (ATI RAGE LT PRO) for improved video performance. Until now, this high-end graphics support was only offered in Compaq`s high-end systems.
Compaq has maintained the award-winning all-in-one form factor of the Armada 1700 including the internal AC adapter, allowing customers the added convenience of travelling with less equipment. Armada 1500c: The Most Affordable, All-in-One Armada Portable PC Building on the popularity of the Armada 1500 Series, Compaq now offers the Armada 1500c, an affordable portable PC that targets extremely value conscious business customers.
Starting at R13,158.45, the Armada 1500c Series is based upon the new Intel Mobile Celeron 266MHz and 300MHz processors, including 128KB of fast, internal cache. The Armada 1500c Series also includes a 12.1-inch high contrast colour STN (super twist nematic) or colour TFT (thin film transistor) display, a 4GB SMART hard drive, 32MB expandable SDRAM, an external AC adapter, a nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery and a 24X Max CD-ROM4. For the latest in multimedia functionality, the Armada 1500c can support an optional DVD drive, and features the popular Compaq Premier Sound audio system found on all Armada products.
Back at the office, the Armada 1500c is compatible with the Armada Convenience Base II, which now supports three different Armada product families - the 1500c, the 1700 and 1750, and the 3500. Models will begin shipping in late February.
