Last Friday, Compaq Computer presented its NonStop e-business solutions, elaborating on what it has identified as the three keys to successful e-business; selecting systems that last, getting the systems up and running fast, and cultivating the necessary professional skills.
Presented by Malhar Kamdar, director, e-business solutions EMEA Compaq, the focus fell on the company`s approach to providing solutions in a business world that is rapidly realising the importance of "e".
The aim is to cultivate multiple layered networks that would provide e-business concerns with more bandwidth and continuous uptime - thereby coming closer to fulfilling the needs of prospective customers, who generally seek alternative suppliers if network delays are greater than eight seconds.
The first key revolves around providing industry-standard products and solutions to simplify installation, integration and management, and encompasses business-critical systems servers (AlphaServers), industry-standard servers (such as ProLiant and TaskSmart), IP-ready solution packs, storage architecture and server applications.
"Building it to last" is the driving force behind Compaq`s second key to success in e-business. These networked system architectures include next-generation networks, business integration architecture, enterprise network storage architecture and distributed Internet server arrays.
The company`s third key to success is the deployment of service professionals who have the expertise required to plan, design, implement, integrate and manage Compaq NonStop solutions. These services include e-business consulting, solution integration and infrastructure services and support and management services.
Compaq defines NonStop solutions as being based on four key dimensions: availability, scalability, manageability and security. Entities that have already implemented NonStop solutions include legal publishers Butterworths, the UK`s Millennium Dome and the Vatican.
