Compaq today announced enhancements to its Presario notebook range with new processors and new configurations designed to enable users to get the most from mobile computing.
The Celeron 700MHz 1200XL - 403 is the entry-level model with 64MB SDRAM, 24-speed CD-ROM drive and 4MB shared video memory. In addition the unit features one Type I/II/III PCMCIA slot, 12,1" TFT Active Matrix screen and 6GB hard drive.
The range also includes the 1400XL - 455, 1700XL - 470 and 1800XL - 481 notebooks with the Intel Pentium III processors in 700MHz and 800MHz configurations. These units include 128MB SDRAM, 8MB video RAM, an 8-speed DVD drive and hard drives of 10GB, 15GB and 20GB respectively. Also featured is a Type II or Type III PCMCIA slot with 32-bit CardBus support.
All models in the Presario notebook range feature JBL Pro speakers with bass reflex, PCI 56Kbps modems and Compaq`s unique easy access buttons which simplify a wide range of tasks with access to instant Internet, instant search, instant e-mail, on-line shopping, CD/DVD control keys and instant on/sleep. In addition, the units include a wide range of productivity software pre-installed including MS Windows Millennium, MS Word 2000 and Works 2000, McAfee VirusScan, RIOPort Jukebox (on 1400XL - 455 only), and Compaq SystemSave.
