Adding greater processing power to its fully-integrated commercial notebook PC line-up, Compaq Computer Corporation today announced new models of the Armada 7800 and Armada 1750 Series featuring the latest Intel Mobile Pentium II processor at 400MHz.
"The Armada 7800 and 1750 Series products are extremely stable and reliable platforms, offering a host of the traditional notebook computing features and options business users have come to expect," said Sean Regenass, Portables Product Manager, Compaq Computer. "This new level of processing power further extends the life of these popular products."
Both products feature dazzling 14.1-inch colour TFT (thin film transistor) 1024 x 768 displays supporting up to 16.8 million colours, and integrated AC adapters for a convenient, all-in-one solution for corporate mobile computer users.

The Armada 7800 is the company`s powerhouse notebook PC series, offering a 14-Gigabyte1 (GB) SMART hard drive, 64-megabytes (MB) of SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic RAM), and an AGP (Accelerated Graphic Port) graphics implementation with a dedicated high performance 66MHz graphic bus. In addition, an integrated S3ViRGE/MX graphics controller with 4MB SGRAM (Synchronous Graphics RAM) increases 3-D acceleration. The Armada 7800 also features a standard DVD-ROM drive in a convenient MultiBay offering the choice of floppy, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, LS-120, a second hard drive and second battery.
It easily "hot docks" into the award-winning ArmadaStation II in Windows 95/98, with or without the optional space-saving Tower Stand. For port replication with Ethernet, the MiniStation E convenience base is available. A standard three-year worldwide limited warranty assures peace of mind. The 400MHz Armada 7800 model is available immediately with a recommended street price starting at R43 8612.
The Armada 1750 Series - a Windows Magazine "WinList" winner for the past four months (see http://winlist.winmag.com/winlist.asp) - features a three-spindle design, offering the ability to simultaneously access the hard drive, diskette drive and 24X CD-ROM drive3. New to the Armada 1750 Series is a generous 10GB SMART hard drive. The Armada 1750 also includes a 24X CD-ROM Drive and 64MB of SDRAM. For enhanced durability, a shock resistant hard drive enclosure and spill resistant keyboard are also standard. The 400MHz Armada 1750 with Windows 95 preinstalled is available immediately for a recommended street price of R35 089 or R36 063 for a model with Windows NT 4.0 preinstalled.
Price Cuts
Compaq also today cut prices up to 15 percent on existing Armada models.
