Compellent Technologies (NYSE: CML) today announced that for the third year in a row, it has been recognised as the fastest growing block-based external storage company in the world by Gartner, based on revenue for 2008.
According to the report: “Market Share: External Controller-Based Disk Storage, Worldwide, 2005-2008”, released May 2009 authored by Roger Cox, Compellent saw a 69% revenue increase from 2007 to 2008, and holds the top growth position for its storage area network (SAN).
“Organisations are approaching IT differently in the current economy and have recognised that the Compellent SAN provides a solid foundation for a lean, efficient data centre with limitless scalability,” said Bruce Kornfeld, vice-president of marketing, Compellent. “We have maintained our incredibly fast storage market growth because end-users are continuing to embrace solutions that virtualise the data centre, reduce hardware and power consumption and simplify data management.”
Cox, research vice-president, Technology and Service Provider Research, Gartner, said: “The mid-range external controller-based disk storage market continues to be highly competitive as new storage vendors take on the established mainstream vendors.”
