Competition Commission approves Comparex and Business Connexion merger

Johannesburg, 19 Dec 2003

Comparex Africa (Pty) Ltd and Business Connexion Solution Holdings (Pty) Ltd are pleased to announce that the proposed merger between the two organisations has been unconditionally approved by the Competition Commission South Africa.

With the approval confirmed, the new organisation is wholly set to become South Africa`s largest black empowered ICT company, with annual revenues in excess of R3 billion.

CEO Peter Watt and Deputy CEO Benjamin Mophatlane were delighted to receive the news. Both gentlemen remarked that they look forward to the challenge of building the largest and most admired New South African ICT organisation.

Watt added "The focus will be on ensuring that we leverage maximum value out of the merger. A structured integration process will be undertaken coordinated through a nation-wide merger project. We have already commenced working on other aspects of the merger such as branding and structural considerations that have to be addressed.

Mophatlane concluded "I am confident that we will see immediate success from this partnership and I would like to assure our employees, clients and other stakeholders that we are sincerely committed to continuing to transform the organisation into a truly South African company".
