IT leaders and practitioners must take advantage of emerging technology trends in cloud computing, new mediums of user interaction and dynamic application services that will further help IT transform the way it serves the needs of the business.

So said Jeetu Patel, CTO of EMC Information Intelligence Group, during his keynote presentation at EMC's Momentum 2010 event, in Lisbon, Portugal.

Patel described EMC's vision for an information intelligence platform to provide a complete breadth of functionality across the entire information management lifecycle, a fully-integrated case management engine and composition tool to allow for rapid development, testing and deployment of process-based applications, and enabling full and management.

He also noted that EMC's roadmap for 2011 would focus on in-context collaboration, the development of modular user interface frameworks, expanding on device and task-specific user interfaces, and leveraging existing work patterns and tools where possible.

Stacking compliance

Patel pointed to an earlier keynote by Mark Lewis, chief strategist at EMC, in which he outlined a new technology stack for information management and compliance.

Lewis discussed what the new information management technology stack needs to look like to meet changing business requirements. He sees the new stack as consisting of three layers - a next-generation user interface framework, a composite application services layer and cloud-based information infrastructure.

Patel expanded on Lewis' vision, explaining that the new stack would enable EMC to provide users and developers an easy to understand, device tailored, and secure interface to interact with information and applications in a highly-productive manner regardless of who they are, where they are located, or what device they are using.

He added the simplified stack would also enable EMC to provide a range of development tools that enables the rapid development of content-enabled applications in a unified and consistent development environment.

Lastly, he reiterated that the focus on cloud information services infrastructure would provide organisations with the necessary information services in the private and public cloud environment.
