CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association, has aligned itself with its second regional cornerstone partner and member, AST IT Solutions, a division of the AST Group, to actively promote local interest in its IT Project + certification.
AST IT Solutions, together with CompTIA and Thomson Prometric, recently gathered with a number of corporations and business partners, to explain the benefits behind project management within the IT arena. Loraine Vorster, sales and marketing executive at CompTIA, used the opportunity to explain the necessity behind genuine certification and the association`s ongoing quest to rid the industry of fly-by-night trainers and raise the standard of training provision in general.
"As an industry-representative organisation we would like to stress the importance behind certification in the IT market. It is really the most effective means of providing credibility, quality assurance and recognition of achievement. We have already established a partnership with AST Namibia in terms of the development of all our certifications in that region, and we are excited about the AST Abraxas IT Solutions` commitment to IT Project + and the value it provides as a cornerstone partner."
In acquiring Cornerstone Partnership status, AST has undertaken to participate in the development of the IT Project+ certification and become a member of the cornerstone committee. This influential body is made up of leading CompTIA members who share the objective of directing the growth and development of this certification.
Speaking on behalf of the AST Group, Project Manager Jenny Fysh outlined the value the company sees in the promotion and development of IT Project +. "There is a tremendous amount of value attached to this certification. The fact that it was originally developed through the Gartner Institute was a big factor. There is also the fact that the certification is owned by CompTIA - a truly industry representative association that the market views as being able to secure reliable, globally recognised certification," said Fysh.
CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association, is a not-for-profit trade association of more than 10 000 companies and professional IT members in the rapidly converging computing and communications market. CompTIA has members in more than 50 countries and provides a unified voice for the industry in the areas of standards (including e-commerce), vendor-neutral certification, service metrics, and public policy. More than a half a million individuals worldwide have earned CompTIA certifications in PC service, networking, document imaging, and Internet. CompTIA is headquartered in the Chicago area.
