Computer Associates International, Inc (CA), today announced that it has achieved true global ISO 9001:2000 certification. This certification independently confirms CA`s leadership position in the software industry in terms of quality of its business processes.
In 2000, CA became the first enterprise software company to be awarded worldwide ISO 9002:1994 certification.
Upgrading to the ISO 9001:2000 level of certification required CA to conform to even higher quality standards not previously mandated. These new requirements include a greater focus on providing and measuring customer satisfaction, rigorous adherence to a process model closely aligned to business practices, and a process for continual improvement as a required component of the Company`s Quality Management System (QMS).
"Legal Aid fully appreciates the rigors and disciplines that CA applies when delivering services and solutions to our organisation," said Chris Staniforth, CEO of The Legal Aid Commission of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). "As an ISO 9001 certified company, CA has engaged our organisation with tested, proven and robust methodologies and products that gives ACT Legal Aid a great deal of confidence in the delivered outcomes."
Independent audits were conducted at CA offices around the world to ascertain that all of the standard`s requirements were met through CA`s various systems and procedures. Those systems include:
* CA`s QMS - which promotes, tracks and enforces quality practices for all employees;
* CA`s Software Delivery Model - which formalizes solutions development processes; and
* CA`s Engagement Management Model - a formal framework through which services are delivered to clients.
The audit identified CA`s Client Relations Organisation as an organisational asset having a particularly significant positive impact on customer relations.
The "true global" designation was specified by SAI Global, an independent auditing organisation, for CA having achieved certification through a single, centrally controlled QMS that is applied to all offices worldwide. "The technical infrastructure CA has developed for their QMS should become the industry model for centrally-managed, multi-site management systems," said Tony Scotton, executive general manager, SAI Global.
"ISO 9001:2000 certification is proof-positive that CA`s commitment to quality permeates every aspect of our business," said Ken Bell, CA senior vice-president responsible for ISO initiatives. "It provides independent validation of the rigorous processes we have put in place to increase the satisfaction of our customers and maximise value for all CA stakeholders."
