In one of several seminars extolling the "eValue of IT", company Computer Associates introduced its new e-business suite, eTrust, to a range of industry decision-makers in Sandton yesterday.

The seminar featured presentations explaining the ins and outs of e-business, and the manner in which security solutions are implemented to safeguard e-operations. These topics were discussed by Piers McMahon, CA international director of security strategies, and Tim Ellis, SACA MD.

In addition, attendees were walked through the functionalities of the new eTrust suite. Highlighted aspects included the eTrust AntiVirus and Intrusion Detection modules, which defend against malicious mobile code and detect attempts to gain unauthorised access to systems using techniques such as buffer overflow.

Other aspects of the suite include eTrust Encryption, VPN, Firewall and Access Control.
