Computer Associates ranked number one worldwide

Johannesburg, 07 Aug 2001

Computer Associates (CA) today announced that its acclaimed Jasmine Portal was the world`s top-selling Enterprise Information Portal (EIP) software in 2000, according to a newly issued market research report from IDC.

The report - entitled "Worldwide Enterprise Information Portal Software Market Forecast and Analysis, 2000-2005" - found that CA`s global revenues from Jasmine Portal software licenses and maintenance represented over 16% of the small and emerging worldwide EIP market.

"CA has been successful in maintaining and increasing the market momentum of the portal technology it acquired from Sterling Software," said IDC analyst Brian McDonough, the report`s author. "CA`s existing customer base has been especially receptive to the Jasmine Portal solution, which can be implemented with or without additional components of CA`s Jasmine brand, such as the Jasmine Integration Server."

CA`s Jasmine Portal is the personalised eBusiness workplace for employees, partners and consumers, providing interactive web access for every kind of information delivery challenge. A 100% Java portal that is patterned after common Internet portals, Jasmine Portal requires little or no end-user training. It provides a unique degree of support for both individual users and easily-defined groups. By simply dragging-and-dropping content, users and groups can specify the information most relevant and valuable to their daily functions, organising their workplaces in the most productive arrangement.

Jasmine Portal supports multiple personalised workplaces, which enables each user to support multiple or changing roles. It also helps customers to meet their global eBusiness objectives through dynamic personalisation, double-byte and European language support, and streamlined administration.

"Jasmine Portal has been a major growth area for CA because of its richness as a solution for information management and the ease of deployment that it offers today`s heavily burdened IT organisations," said Shari Shore, brand manager for Jasmine Portal. "This powerful combination of functionality and practicality should enable CA to continue increasing its share of this rapidly expanding market."

According to the IDC report "Worldwide Enterprise Information Portal Software Market Forecast and Analysis, 2000-2005" the worldwide EIP market will grow from $252.1 million in 2000 to $2.44 billion in 2005.
