Networking and maintenance specialist Computer Pro has sold 51% of its equity to Sanah Makhudu, owner of recruitment company Makhudu Procurement, for an undisclosed sum.
Computer Pro MD Des Little says the sale is part of the company`s goal to win government business and to fulfil its responsibility towards economic and social upliftment.
"We have, over the years, progressed into the corporate market and are now responsible for some major role players and their branches nationwide.
"We took a decision last year, however, to move into the public sector, and this is the reason for becoming what is essentially a black-owned company."
Makhudu, a procurement advisor, is to administer Computer Pro`s management and human resources requirements.
Makhudu says the company also provides training incentives to previously disadvantaged people. "By including a previously disadvantaged individual for every minimum of 50 cabling points in our installation teams, we contribute towards the economic upliftment and the future of the industry."
She says management has also decided "to disregard products and services of suppliers and companies that do not conform to the economic empowerment requirements".
Computer Pro, established in 1989, focuses on the wide area network and local area network markets. It is also a solutions provider for remote communications.
