Compuware, Business Engineering Systems market local solution to global IT community

Johannesburg, 05 Nov 2002

In the spirit of `Proudly South African`, Compuware SA and local business solutions provider Business Engineering Systems (BES) have rolled out a powerful enterprise content management solution to the local and global marketplace.

Set to significantly simplify the way companies manage their resources, the solution features BES`s locally developed Web-based application Collaborator and Compuware`s enterprise portal OptimalView.

Comments Allen Yaxley, Managing Director of BES: "Already we are planning to deploy the enterprise content management solution in countries such as Brazil, France, The Netherlands and Australia."

"Compuware`s strong international reach has given us the means to do this. They have enabled us to build relationships in these countries, therefore exposing our home-grown technology to the international IT community."

Adds Ben van Niekerk, product manager at Compuware SA: "As the local subsidiary of Compuware, we aim to assist and support the SA IT developer market. This enterprise content management solution is an excellent example of how local and global solutions can work together to provide a compelling offering that fulfils international requirements and standards."

Combined, OptimalView`s and Collaborator`s functionalities enable companies to obtain and provide the right content to the right people at the right time, therefore accelerating the decision-making process.

Today, users need relevant content in a familiar environment - normally via an intranet or a corporate portal. The key is, however, to enable the updating of this content, whether it is from an external or internal source, to occur without creating a technical nightmare.

And this is where OptimalView and Collaborator provide a solution. As both the technologies were developed in Compuware`s UNIFACE Enterprise Development Environment, integration and deployment obstacles are effectively countered.

"This also, essentially, means that the solution can be installed in an afternoon, which is a vast improvement on other content management solutions," says Yaxley.

Compuware`s OptimalView enterprise portal is a powerful business integration framework that provides a single point of access to critical information, applications and business processes. The portal is fully Web-based, intuitive and easy to use.

"OptimalView allows companies to connect every employee, even in large enterprises. Also, the portal combines out-of-the-box functionality with the ability to evolve as business requirements change."

Collaborator complements OptimalView`s functionalities, as it is a Web-based application that provides a scalable and comprehensive content management environment.

Explains Yaxley: "A key feature of Collaborator is that it ensures secure and auditable collaboration between people physically remote from each other.

"Information such as events, documents, discussions, tasks, information requests and announcements can now be shared across organisational and geographical boundaries through one centralised Internet site."

BES has been a Compuware SA partner since 1995, and was one of the first SA companies to sell UNIFACE licences.
