Compuware QACenter improves application quality across multiple environments

Compuware Corporation today announced the latest version of its functional testing suite of products, Compuware QACenter Enterprise Edition. This new version includes a release of TestPartner, version 5.2, which introduces features that accelerate the functional testing of complex Web, ERP and CRM applications. Also included is new support for testing Microsoft.NET, Java and SAP 6.20 GUI for Windows applications.

QACenter Enterprise Edition`s comprehensive platform and application support, along with its implementation of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) scripting, uniquely meets the needs of all QA organisations - regardless of size, technology environment or skill sets. Enterprise Edition enables companies to build test assets early in the development cycle in order to find and fix quality issues before business-critical applications are deployed. Additionally, Enterprise Edition`s visual scripting and wizards allow less experienced QA staffers to execute application tests, while the power of the VBA scripting language meets the needs of advanced testers.

Enhancements to the TestPartner portion of QACenter Enterprise Edition ensure that thorough, effective functional testing meets business needs in spite of today`s shortened release cycles. In addition to increased platform and application support, product updates include extended support for executing legacy test assets and failed test checking capabilities that help organisations further validate application business transaction functionality, including:

* Microsoft.NET framework 1.1 support: Support is built in for Microsoft.NET controls, including more than 20 Microsoft.NET grids. With its record and replay capabilities, testers now can validate the functionality of Microsoft.NET applications.

* SAP 6.20 GUI for Windows support: In addition to the previously announced SAP 6.20 GUI for HTML support, Enterprise Edition now introduces support for SAP 6.20 GUI for Windows that includes object recognition, capture and replay for SAP 6.20 WinGUI controls. As SAP users often use both Web and Windows interfaces, it is now possible to automatically test these interfaces using a single tool.

* Execution bridge enhancement: Due to increasing customer demand, Enterprise Edition now offers migration capabilities for Mercury WinRunner. For organisations utilising varied test scripts and assets for legacy applications, the new execution bridge enables legacy test assets to be run by TestPartner.

* Sun Java 1.4 support: Enterprise Edition now tests applications written in Sun Java 1.4. It automates applications built with Sun Swing and AWT controls for complete Java application testing.
