IT communications partner Comztek has introduced the latest Microcom Windows XP-certified communications device to SA: the external Microcom DeskPorte Home modem.
Comztek is the exclusive Microcom distributor in southern Africa.
The new DeskPorte Home modem - that replaces the popular DeskPorte Pocket modem - is the part of the Microcom range of small fax modems that has received rave reviews from users because of its fast and reliable Internet connectivity capability.
The new DeskPorte Home modems feature V.92 protocol, extended over-voltage protection, and a simplified installation procedure thanks to the new Microcom AutoInstall Wizard. It offers the same design aesthetics as its predecessor, but has enhanced communication parameters and utility properties.
"The simplified installation process allows the user to install everything necessary for the modem to operate efficiently in just five mouse clicks," says Ronny Russell, Microcom business development manager at Comztek.
"Notwithstanding superior product quality, usability and support, and service from Comztek, the new DeskPorte is highly competitively priced. In fact, it is even more affordable than the outgoing model, even with its superior functionality," he adds.
The serial interface of the new DeskPorte Home modem ensures simple connection to all types of PCs and laptops.
As with all Microcom modems, the DeskPorte Home is packaged with additional useful software - Classic Phone Tools for faxing and voice transmission; Microcom Advanced Configuration to control connection speed; and Connection Meter to identify the tariff rate of the user`s connection and more. The modem now comes with answering machine capability that offers additional office functionality.
SMS FunTom software allows the user to create logos and ringtones for mobile phones, as well as send SMSs without having to be connected to the Internet.
"As part of the Microcom two-year carry in warranty, Comztek ensures that end-users are provided with an immediate replacement unit. The warranty covers the product for surge damage and the power supply falls under the same two-year swap out policy," he concludes.
