Comztek, the country`s leading communications systems partner, is expanding its focus to include the South African storage market, following record achievements in networking, software and security over the past three years.
Heinz Stephan, product and technology director at Comztek, says this move is a natural progression as corporates have started to consolidate their storage environments, as well as the increasing interconnections to networkable, storage technologies.
"We believe storage technology has reached a stage in its evolution where it fits extremely well into Comztek`s core businesses of networking, software and security," he says. "The timing is also favourable for our traditional partners to become involved in supporting storage solutions. Comztek is able to provide its partners with best-of-breed solutions," he says.
"Storage devices and services have become networkable technologies and can no longer be considered standalone solutions. Storage has also become more network dependent as can be seen with today`s network attached storage (NAS) systems and the increasing popularity of iSCSI, a storage protocol designed to transport block-level storage traffic over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, which is beginning to gain momentum," he continues.
In line with its focus on storage technology, Comztek`s strategy going forward includes the distribution for the Adic product range, with immediate effect. In addition, Comztek supports the Veritas Backup Exec range of software products, thereby ensuring that Comztek offers a complete range of storage solutions.
"We selected Adic because of its standing as a leading vendor in the backup storage arena. We know our resellers are getting increasingly pressured to deliver a wider selection of products," says Stephan. "Now they can call on us to partner them in delivering quality storage solutions to their customers."
Christo Briedenhann, territory manager: Middle East and Africa at Adic, says that with Adic`s success and growth globally, the time was right to focus on the mid-sized market and appoint a distributor with the right credentials to provide state-of-the-art service and support throughout southern Africa.
"One of the primary reasons for appointing Comztek as a distributor for Adic in the small to medium enterprise (SME) market is that Comztek has been very effective and competitive in the networking and communications systems market," says Briedenhann. "Comztek`s strong networking skills and product knowledge will enable it to compete successfully in storage too."
"In addition, Comztek has the right infrastructure to support the Adic range in the small to medium office space and will provide 24-hour service and support, as well as backup stock. Comztek also offers a test lab facility which will be used to demonstrate Adic equipment to prospective customers," Stephan concludes.
