Comverse, the supplier of value-added software solutions to cellular service providers, has announced that Austrian mobile operator Connect Austria has selected Comverse`s Multimedia Messaging Service Centre (MMSC) and Mobile Data Gateway to enable MMS service.
MMS services allow wireless subscribers to send and receive multimedia messages with pictures, text and audio. Comverse`s MMSC is fully interoperable with other operators` MMS services, and the flexible script-based messaging engine allows operators to easily accommodate future services and new technologies.
The Comverse Mobile Data Gateway reduces network congestion, delivers enhanced data performance to the wide variety of terminals on the market and assures interoperability by supporting all relevant bearers and protocols. Its real-time capabilities give subscribers access to more applications and allows flexible billing models. The gateway also makes possible push applications like notifications and interactive content delivery.
"We chose Comverse because we believe its MMSC is the most configurable, open and flexible platform available on the market. It integrates seamlessly into our network and meets our hardware requirements," said Jorgen Bang-Jensen, CEO of Connect Austria. "Comverse`s strength as a messaging company ensures that MMS is central to its core expertise - not a side product."
"The enhanced reporting capabilities of Comverse`s Mobile Data Gateway enable us to easily manage services from a marketing and IT perspective," added Bang-Jensen. "It generates information to help us create services customised to subscriber needs while assisting the generation of more revenue. The Comverse MMSC and Mobile Data Gateway together make a powerful combination that will enable us to deliver the richest MMS services and experience to our subscribers."
Added Zeev Bregman, CEO of Comverse: "MMSC is increasingly being recognised worldwide as a strong solution that transcends basic requirements. Comverse is committed to MMS as an integral element of Total Communications, a friendly customer-focused environment that unites all real-time and non-real-time services on an attractive, easy-to-master, consistent user interface."
