As part of its strategic expansion into Africa, ContinuitySA is opening an office in Phakalane, Botswana, a new suburb about 12 kilometers outside the nation`s capital, Gaborone. The new branch will serve the business continuity needs of ContinuitySA`s South African customers with branches in Botswana as well as local companies and government organisations which have not previously had these services available to them.
Proving the need for continuity services in the region, Allen Smith, MD of ContinuitySA says that even though the office will only be fully operational in June, it is already experiencing growth challenges. "We initially launched the facility at the request of a customer, an international bank that required our services in Botswana, but the response from local businesses and government has been overwhelmingly positive.
ContinuitySA Botswana is located in a 1400m2 building with capacity for up to 200 seats as well as recovery server areas, command centre and treasury facilities. The telecommunications infrastructure in the country is of a high standard and the local provider (BTC) has ensured the office has over 100 telephone and ISDN lines at its disposal. Certain clients have also opted to implement satellite communications system as a backup.
Clients contracted to Continuity Botswana`s Services will be able to continue functioning in the face of any unforeseen interruptions to their business. Independent Generators and UPS`s (uninterruptible power supplies) (UPS/Generators) will allow clients to continue working if the main power grid goes down
Enjoying first-mover advantage, ContinuitySA realises the potential for a sound future in Botswana as a professional business continuity service provider. ContinuitySA anticipates plans to expand further into Africa.
