Controlware introduces its WavePilot CWDM platform

By Global Research Partners
Johannesburg, 14 Feb 2002

Controlware Communications Systems today announced the availability of its WavePilot Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) platform that is uniquely designed to cost-effectively enhance capacity of existing fibre connectivity whilst also incorporating Time Division (TDM) technology.

Historically, Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) has been available for high speed/high bandwidth solutions but for smaller organisations the price has often been extremely high (or "the investment required was too high"); hence the introduction of CWDM.

The Controlware WavePilot CWDM platform supports up to eight high speed or 32 low speed channels, with each channel module supporting application bandwidths between 10Mbps to 1.25Gbps, and if necessary, a TDM TimePilot module can be used instead of a CWDM channel module allowing cost-effective pre-multiplexing of low-speed applications.
