Convergence hot at FICCI Frames

Day two at FICCI Frames 2008 began with a panel discussion on "What, Where and How: Media choices in the expanding universe", says exchange4media.com.

Sujata Dev spoke about convergence and how different mediums were getting interlinked. She also highlighted the difficulties faced by companies while going for convergence.

Thierry Pasquet also spoke about various definitions of convergence and how different people interpreted it. He discussed the various benefits of convergence of mediums, both for service providers and consumers.

Airvana contributes to FMC

Airvana will showcase its fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) offerings at CTIA 2008, taking place from 1 to 3 April in Las Vegas, according to PRNewsWire.

In live demonstrations, the company is highlighting the HubBub CDMA femtocell, the Universal Access Gateway and the Femto Service Manager.

Airvana's HubBub CDMA femtocell has been named a CTIA Emerging Technology Award finalist.

Ethernet grows in prominence

Convergence India 2008, held at the Pragati Maidan Showgrounds in New Delhi again, was curiously low-key when considering the current and expected growth rate of the Indian market at the moment, says The Telecom.

Like last year, WiMax, mobile evolution, and optical dominated the show floor, although carrier Ethernet had grown in prominence since 2007.

ECI Telecom displayed its new platform while Tejas Networks India talked up its developments, and RAD Communications showed off its multi-service platforms.
