CoreEnterprise develops EIPP solution

Johannesburg, 08 May 2002

CoreEnterprise, a division of CoreProcess, working together with the retail industry, has developed a complete solution for electronic invoice and bill presentment

EIPP is the business-to-business version of electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) by which bills are presented and paid electronically on the Internet.

CoreEnterprise Managing Director Jonathan Gluckman says: "B2B transactions are more likely to be disputed than B2C transactions. Invoices are often `not paid as billed` and transactions often need to account for discounts, promotions, and special purchaser relationships."

According to Proctor and Gamble, credit notes are costing the South African supply chain management industry R15 billion annually with approximately 1.35 queries per invoice at the cost of R75 a query in the South African SCM market

Electronic invoicing is not a new concept but many solutions do not address the complete invoice process. Although the receiving of invoices has largely been automated, the matching of invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes is a manual process which can be time-consuming, high on manpower and prone to human error.

Gluckman adds: "The management of invoice disputes is often telephonic with no traceable history; cheque handling costs are high and fraud can be a potential problem. Thus the challenge for a complete solution is to offer the facility to receive electronic invoices from multiple suppliers, with the option to view all the supporting documents thereby allowing real-time decision-making. In addition, it needs to provide auto matching of invoices to goods received vouchers as well as allow for real-time invoice dispute management."

CoreBilling`s goal is to offer true collaboration in the EIPP environment by providing efficient invoice presentment and dispute management through reducing the number of disputes and credit notes. The CoreBilling solution, which addresses EIPP from the buyer`s perspective, goes beyond the limitations of current EIPP systems that offer nothing more than the simple presentment of invoices.

CoreBilling offers the additional functionality.

* Receive electronic invoices from multiple suppliers.

* Auto matching of order confirmation notes to purchase orders.

* Order (pre-delivery) confirmation management.

* Reports on discrepancies between order confirmation notes and actual delivery.

* Auto matching of delivery note to invoice.

* Invoice dispute management.

* Integration into existing ERP and legacy systems.
