South African group Rectron has been appointed local distribution partner for global digital entertainment solutions provider Creative, it was announced on Friday.
The partnership with Rectron was part of a strategy to increase Creative`s digital audio market share in SA, commented Yeo Liang Choon, Creative sales manager for Africa. This is a bid to bring the region in line with the organisation`s worldwide revenue growth figures.
The agreement, he said, will help Creative realise an increase in the quality of service delivery to its customers and broaden the group`s distribution footprint in SA.
Coinciding with the announcement, Creative launched its Sound Blaster X-Fi family of sound cards and the Xtreme Fidelity audio platform.
The combination of Xtreme Fidelity and the X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity audio processor provides improvements to the recording and playback of MP3 music, accelerates and improves PC gameplay, enhances the listening experience for movies, and improves the capabilities, performance and quality of audio creation, Yeo noted.
Xtreme Fidelity, he said, supports a combination of 24-bit audio with a minimum of 110db signal-to-noise ratio and the Creative Multi Speaker Surround 3D headphone and surround speaker technology.
The X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity audio processor, Yeo said, is 24 times more powerful than its predecessor, and is designed with multiple engines to dynamically direct resources through a modular architecture to change the way audio is managed by any application.
It is capable of 10 000-plus MIPS, with more than 51 million transistors, and provides key modes that are optimised for experiences with MP3 music, gaming and audio creation, he stated.
This range of sound cards is based on Sound Blaster`s X-Fi`s 24-bit Crystalizer and CMSS-3D technology, he added.
