Creative Lab's new PC-DVD RAM 5.2GB offers home users and businesses a cost-effective solution for storing and archiving large amounts of data, now available from Multimedia Warehouse, a division of Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD) and member of the Siltek IT Supply Chain Group.
Based on the DVD Forum's rewritable format, Creative PC-DVD RAM has a 5.2 GB of storage capacity on one double-sided DVD-RAM cartridge (2.6GB on each side) and is the first all-in-one solution that reads all formats, including DVD-ROM, DVD-Video, CD Audio, CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW and Video CD disks.
"PC-DVD RAM provides a user-friendly solution for backing up a complete hard drive or archiving multimedia files and media-rich content such as MP3 files, movie files or digital photos.
"Users can record up to eight hours of CD-quality audio (44.1 kHz, 16-bit) or 230 minutes of MPEG-2 video on a single disk and run CD programs at up to 2.400KB per second (16X) and DVDs up to 2.700KB per second," says Solly Schoultz, product manager at Multimedia Warehouse.
Using the included software, files can be recorded or deleted the same way as on a computer hard disk drive. The PC-DVD RAM connects to a PC via a SCSI interface ensuring reliable transfer of data. One 5.2 GB cartridge is included with the DVD-RAM package.
Users can connect the PC-DVD RAM drive to the Creative Dxr3 Decoder board (not included) and view high-resolution DVD movies and MPEG-2 video, or hear Dolby Digital audio, creating a theatre-like experience. For more information on Creative Labs latest range of products, surf to www.mmw.co.za.
