Cricketers in e-learning venture
Chairperson of the Indian national senior cricket selection committee Krishnamachari Srikkanth has introduced an e-learning initiative, careerstrokes.com, which will offer career consultation to graduates, says IBNLive.
"The sport is a religion in India and based on the experience of winning the World Cup in 1983, I have embarked on this new venture to enhance the career prospects of young students,” he says.
The portal will offer live Webinars and online discussions with experts in the field of training and management mentors.
Institute spreads Web learning initiative
Silicon Valley Institute of IT (SVIIT) says all its centres in North America now offer live instructor-facilitated courses over the Internet, or 'classrooms on the Web' via its online live instructor-led learning initiative, reports IT News Online.
In what the company describes as "the next best thing to classroom learning," SVIIT's live-online instructor-led learning offers options for students who require flexible alternatives for computer training due to scheduling or geographic issues.
It also provides a solution for busy professionals who do not have the time to spend in the traditional classroom setting.
More adults enrol for computer courses
More than 1 000 adults enrolled on Surrey County Council SCC computer courses in the last academic year - an increase of 20% on the previous year, states BBC News.
Councillor Denise Saliagopoulos says she was encouraged by interest in the Internet and learning new skills.
"The people who have most to gain, whether to overcome isolation or to save money, are often the ones who are missing out," she says.
