CRM2 releases latest Web-based service management suite

Johannesburg, 23 Apr 2002

InfraActive, a finalist at the Microsoft Fusion awards for Best CRM solution of the year, has been released in South Africa by Infras` regional partner CRM2. With the Version 5.9 release of its Internet-based infrastructure support application - infraActive - Infra Corporation says it has delivered an application that gives enterprise corporations maximum flexibility in the online deployment of service desk, technology life cycle management and business process workflow.

Dubbed the `Technology Ready` version by Infra, 5.9 delivers massively improved scalability, integration with Microsoft .NET and email launching of the application. In combination with infraActive`s Internet architecture, 5.9 enables any organisation, from small start-ups to the largest global corporations to quickly and cost-effectively roll out comprehensive IT management and business processes.

infraActive is one of the first applications in the support infrastructure market to be built on a 100% Web-based architecture (incorporating ActiveX, HTML and J-Script), giving it a practically zero deployment cost. "infraActive has enabled clients to roll out a service management system, statewide or nationally, in a way they that would not have been possible without this product", according to Curtis. "Once installed on a single database and server, you have 24-hour access to the full functionality from anywhere, from a standard Web browser."

Version 5.9 improves on the accessibility offered by previous versions with the introduction of Mail Message Access (MMA), which allows users to interface with the application without needing to log in. A hyperlink in an email launches infraActive and immediately displays the relevant screen to the user. "People may not want to learn a whole system but are happy to use email" says Curtis. "It means managers and technicians can access just the information they need, sign off requests or update tasks, and quickly progress them down the line."

infraActive`s scalability has been enhanced in version 5.9 with the ability to support server farms. The final part of the enterprise equation for infraActive, according to Infra, is 5.9`s .NET integration capabilities, which allow integration of infraActive with any other application built for XML Web Services, regardless of its operating system or programming interface. Infra`s clients vary from multinationals to small dynamic service providers. Infra software has been installed in all the major business sectors, including Finance, Government, Manufacturing, Technology, Public Utilities and ASP.
