"Focus on our strengths in the areas of networking and security are the main reasons that we have come out on top again," says Paul Conradie, managing director for Comztek, which scooped the 2005 CRN Outlook Awards in the categories of Networking: Client Access WAN; Networking Software; Security Management; and Graphics Software.
The awards were presented at a gala event held at The Venue in Rosebank on December 7, 2005.
"In the area of IT distribution, there is a tendency to become a jack-of-all-trades yet a master of none. Comztek`s aim has always been to stick with what we know best in order to deliver the highest value to our reseller channel. Networking and security go hand-in-hand along with ancillary technologies such as storage, backup and power management."
He says Comztek`s expertise in these areas enables their resellers to develop solutions for their customers that are not only based on best-of-breed technologies but also best practice.
Conradie believes that Comztek`s win in the category of Graphics Software is also no surprise.
"There is considerable synergy in the area in which we play - namely the generation of secure electronic documentation: e-paper is a strong growth area as users become aware of the value of electronic documentation. A good example of this is the ICT Act which came into force two years ago - it was electronically signed by President Thabo Mbeki using Adobe`s Acrobat technology."
As a distributor, Conradie believes Comztek has a huge role to play in helping its reseller partners to grow their business:
"Close co-operation with resellers in developing mission critical solutions for their customers as well as providing the training necessary to enable resellers to maintain these solution for their customers are areas which we see as important if the IT sector is to grow. I believe that Comztek has got the mix right," he concludes.
