CS Education Solutions, the IT training arm of JSE-listed systems integrator CS Holdings, has become the only Citrix Authorised Learning Centre (CALC) in SA.
Citrix Systems, Inc authorises CALCs to provide technical instruction for the installation and administration of Citrix products, and provide training in preparation for Citrix certifications.
Citrix offers four certification tracks through its CALCs, including Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA), Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator (CCEA), Citrix Certified Sales Professional (CCSP) and Citrix Certified Instructor (CCI). CS Education Solutions will offer preparatory courses for all the certification tracks.
Citrix, a global leader in application serving software and services, opened an office in SA in March 2000. Citrix currently has South African customers representing a number of different markets, including banking, finance, mining, medical, retail and manufacturing companies.
Chris Norton, Citrix channel manager for SA, says: "We are pleased to welcome CS Holdings to the CALC programme. They offer a high level of expertise and the infrastructure required to provide quality training. Citrix application serving solutions require certified people to implement and support the product correctly. By gaining this certification via an authorised training centre such as CS Education Solutions, a company can ensure the quality and smooth implementation of Citrix into the enterprise."
Dr Madelise Grobler, MD of CS Education Solutions, explains that as of 1 May 2001, CS Holdings began training mainly members of the Citrix Solutions Network (CSN) in SA, consisting of distributors, resellers, system integrators and consultants, who resell application server software solutions. However, they will also expand this service into the corporate market.
CS Education Solutions will offer certification in both the MetaFrame for Windows and MetaFrame for Unix Operating Systems, and will conduct training at its centres in Gauteng, Cape Town, Bloemfontein and Durban.
"We see this accreditation as a most urgently required service for our client base," says Grobler. "We have already been inundated with requests for training, and are running at full capacity. Given Citrix`s expansion and the demand for training, we expect to add about R1 million in revenue over the next year to our business."
