JSE-listed CS Holdings is to implement a SAP human resources (HR) administration and payroll solution for the Zambian central government as part of its Payroll Management and Establishment Control project, funded by the UK`s Department for International Development.
As prime contractor, CS Holdings has been awarded this turnkey project worth USD4.2 million in partnership with Zambian-based organisations Ernst & Young and Multi Vendor Services (MVS).
"CS Holdings was awarded the contract because the solution we offered best fitted the Zambian government`s requirements of improved payroll efficiency and control," says CS Holdings business development executive Johann de Meyer. "Additionally, the utilisation of Zambian-based organisations confirms CS Holdings` commitment to empower local partners of the South African Development Community and the rest of the African continent."
"Ernst & Young`s in-depth knowledge and understanding of the workings of the Zambian government made them the best choice for the provision of Consulting skills complementary to our own," says CS Holdings SAP operations manager Riaan Hattingh. "Similarly, MVS`s widespread understanding of the local Zambian business environment also makes them ideally suited to provide the hardware and infrastructure component of the solution. Both companies` ability to provide support from a local base further enhances the Zambian government`s experience of the post implementation support."
"The solution, which will be deployed to 250 users, will provide the Zambian government with clear visibility on payroll and HR administration at all levels of central government," Hattingh continues. "The system`s ability to capture and process information in an integrated manner will provide for further efficiency enhancements, while improvements in accuracy and control will ultimately lead to substantial cost savings."
The project commenced at the beginning of August 2003 and is scheduled for completion in May 2004.
