CS Holdings trains Momentum Life brokers on new remote IT system

Major insurer Momentum Life has contracted JSE-listed IT solutions provider CS Holdings to train its more than 800 independent brokers in the use of its new MapApp remote computing system. CS Holdings` training division, CS Solutions, will provide the training. CS Holdings will also provide the courseware.

Momentum Life is one of South Africa`s top four life assurance companies. It ascribes much of its success to its upper income target market focus and the use of intermediaries or brokers, as preferred by this market segment, to distribute its products.

MapApp is a distributed software system that includes an electronic new business proposal form enabling brokers to download new client details direct to Momentum`s servers via dial-up modem.

Momentum Life awarded the contract to CS Holdings based on its track record in user training and its national infrastructure. Berniece van Heerden, head of Momentum Any Place Solutions (MAP), a division of Momentum Life, says: "CS Holdings has proven competencies in the field of third-party training, specifically in the case of bespoke systems."

MapApp has been designed to offer maximum support to brokers in an increasingly challenging business environment. The changing intermediary environment will lead to increased professionalism and credibility in the industry, but not without some casualties.

"Brokers need to gear themselves up for greater levels of efficiency to meet the challenges that this dynamic industry will provide," says Van Heerden. "MapApp is a key support mechanism that we`re offering to our brokers to help them achieve greater levels of profitability."

Momentum Life is offering the training free of charge to the more than 800 key selected independent brokers. The one-day course comprises a computer literacy section to bring non-PC literate users up to speed. Training will take place at CS Holdings` premises throughout South Africa, although on-site training is offered in exceptional circumstances.

To meet Momentum`s requirements, CS Holdings needed to train its own training staff in the business processes driving the MapApp system. This was done by implementing a "train the trainer" process.

"CS Holdings operates on a solutions-based model whereby we analyse the client`s organisational objectives and business processes in order to devise a training solution that maximises user productivity," says Kevin Kemp, national business development manager for CS Holdings` Education Solution Division. "We welcome the opportunity to work with Momentum Life, because it gives us an opportunity to show how effectively our methodology can be applied to virtually any software product."
