Computer Storage Services (CSSI) has rolled out MyData, an electronic backup centre for business, government and home users.

A CSSI statement reveals MyData securely backs up data into a category-five biometric data vault based in Midrand.

CSSI invested R27 million into developing its data centre, code-named CipherVault, which took 28 months to complete. The company says the data centre acts as a location for server hosting, virtual environments, and offsite data storage with direct and connectivity nodes.

CSSI says it has grown its market presence significantly with a policy of zero-obligation contracts, while guaranteeing uptimes of 99.9% and higher depending on customer requirements.

Sandra De Oliveira, CSSI GM, says: “Our success has been in making our company offerings attractive and affordable and the best quality possible. Customers can host servers and run their exchange, virtual environments, and disaster recovery solutions in this secure data facility for under R2 000 per server, with all the extras included in this price.”

According to the company, all the data stored for each customer in the data vault is replicated to a European data centre. Users can access their data at high speeds from any location in the world.

CipherVault has a server hosting capacity of around 1 500 servers, cartridge capacity in excess of 200 000 DLT/LTO tapes, and has two 480Mbps fibre-optic links directly connected with redundant connectivity between service providers over DSL, ADSL and wireless media.
