Mark Willies Attorneys, a legal firm handling motor vehicle accident (MVA) claims, has gained "significant productivity improvements" in processing claims on its clients` behalf since implementing application software developed specifically for this legal niche.
Attorney Mark Willies says that since installing the Motor Vehicle Accident Claims System (MOACC) developed by DLK Consulting earlier this year, the entire claims process has been streamlined, resulting in better control and faster turnaround of claims.
"My firm is more efficient in keeping track of fees and we are able to manage costs better. This has positive spin-offs for the firm as our clients get a better and more affordable service."
DLK CEO Leon Hendricks says many SA legal firms have been criticised for excessive costs charged for processing these claims. "It is now possible for lawyers to use IT to cut considerable time from the legal procedures and pass on the cost savings to their clients.
"There are many time-consuming overheads associated with processing claims and to lawyers time is money. We have proven that, by implementing a specially developed MVA software application considerable delays can be eliminated from the process."
MOACC is specifically designed to manage the business processes within the MVA claims environment. It manages all process and information related to a specific client in less time, and with grater integrity, than is the norm with conventional processes.
Hendricks says the system can quickly access "comprehensive and accurate information about each client. In a matter of minutes it can gather together client information to be sent to the Road Accident Fund (RAF), such as affidavits and medial certificates, and calculate the time and cost of work done for a client who is to be billed. With conventional systems these tasks can take days or weeks to complete."
MOACC also eliminates the need to outsource the costing of actions. Real-time calculations cost each action as it happens on the system. All actions are calculated and billed in accordance with the prescribed tariff or a tariff agreed beforehand with the client.
