D-Link intros SME storage, surveillance

Networking firm D-Link will introduce a range of IP CCTV cameras and storage products in the second quarter of the year aimed at the small to medium enterprise (SME) market, reports Computing.co.uk.

The company says many businesses are looking to improve their surveillance capabilities and boost the storage requirements needed to hold the captured .

D-Link GM Chris Davies explained that the company will introduce around 16 new storage products and 30 new camera models by the end of May or early June.

EU funds SME green programme

The European Commission has released a grant aimed to promote and help small and medium-sized exporters fully adopt green operations in their companies, states PhilStar.

At least 450 SME exporters in Cebu, Philippines will benefit from the three-year Smart-Cebu (SMEs for Environment Accountability, Responsibility, and Transparency) programme, which is aimed at mentoring exporters in pursuing legitimate green or environmentally-friendly operations.

The Smart-Cebu programme is part of the EUR4.5 million (R46.5 million) allocated for the Philippines in several industries, such as tourism in Palawan, and local SMEs in Metro Manila.

Intermedia offers UC for SMEs

With the unveiling of Unison, Intermedia stakes a claim to the unified communications (UC) market for SMEs, writes InformationWeek.

The hosted offering combines six core UC services - , e-mail, instant messaging, integration, video conferencing, and collaboration - in a software-as-a-service package targeted at SMEs.

“I believe UC is as beneficial for small companies as for large enterprises. We see the same need for collaboration across distributed workforces in small companies; the underlying benefit is as strong for SMEs as enterprises," says Intermedia COO Jonathan McCormick.
