Dash turns iPhone into car stereo

The Devium Dash transforms an iPhone 4 into a car infotainment system and is touted to be the successor to the standard car stereo, Auto123.com reports.

The Dash can recharge an iPhone, while allowing the user to access a GPS app, send text messages and listen to the radio.

Devium also released an application called 'Dashboard' that serves as a hub for the most frequently used mobile apps.

Dash features a video pass-through so users can play video on external monitors, Autoblog states.

The unit pumps out 4x50 watts of power and includes two pre-amps for front and rear subwoofers.

The first Dash will be shipping out in June 2012, and will initially only support the Apple iPhone 4 and 4S, AutoGuide.com says.

However, Devium hopes to support additional smartphones in the near future, including Android smartphones.
