Version 7.0 of the Data Junction data conversion tool simplifies data migration so effectively that it recently earned its second PC Week (US) Labs Analyst`s Choice award in two years.
"Data Junction 7.0 offers a superb range of data conversion capabilities via its new and improved graphical design interfaces and multiplatform conversion engine. No other data conversion tool delivers so much for so little, making this a good choice for most companies implementing data warehouses." PCWeek online, 13 September 1999
Data Junction 7.0`s simplicity and price are indeed its major selling points. Competitors such as Computer Associates International Inc.`s DecisionBase, Sagent Technology Inc.`s Data Mart Server and Compuware Corp.`s Reliant Bridge cost from 10 to 30 times as much.
Data Junction 7.0 has been successfully re-engineered to be far more flexible and scalable and includes numerous improvements to its already strong core features plus a new, flowchart-like graphical Project Designer. The process of defining a data conversion is achingly simple with Data Junction. Most data transformation mappings are formed by simply using the drag-and-drop interface -- and there are powerful match-by-name and match-by-position functions as well
Data Junction 7.0 provides a true design-and-run interface via its Project Designer and its ability to launch the Conversion Designer, which is at the heart of Data Junction. This is where the main work of getting data from one format, layout or application to another is done. The Project Designer, a management tool for transforming data from one format to another organises Data Junction conversions with logical choices, SQL queries, global variables and any other application needed to complete data transformation tasks. Once organised, projects execute or automate entire workflow sequences as a single unit. The Project Designer also allows concurrent data conversions.
Data Junction 7.0 supports multiple record layout scenarios, including parent-child and hierarchical records found in complex data structures and Version 7.0 also handles streamed data, allowing implementation of real-time transformations between applications.
Data Junction 7.0 runs on Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT and is available in personal, professional and enterprise editions. The enterprise edition of Data Junction supports more than 150 data formats and their conversions, including SAP AG internals, COBOL copybooks and Extensible Markup Language (XML), with or without document type definitions. These editions are priced from approximately R2000.00, with the number of databases supported being the key difference between them.
The Data Junction 7.0 suite includes Data Junction and DJ Engine (also available separately). The Data Junction component includes the graphical Project and Conversion Designers, whereas DJ Engine is a stripped-down, multiplatform conversion engine.
