Data management critical for business

management and the responsibility they have to their customers, reports Experian QAS.

According to CyberSource director of products and services, Dr Akif Khan, businesses should ensure that all personally identifiable information they hold about individuals on databases is at the minimum of falling into the wrong hands.

My Hermes reveals that Khan suggested using a third-party to take care of this aspect of a business delivers extra space as it can “help reduce this burden and move all customer payment off-site.

“Payment tokenisation provides retailers with a token for use with e-commerce transactions rather than actual payment information and hosted order pages allow retailers to process transactions without allowing their staff and systems any access to the data,” he continues.

Secondly, it is essential to identify which members of staff have access to sensitive or confidential information, with the final step cited as securing all data and making it inaccessible to hackers inside or outside the company, writes Ontrack Data Recovery.

“The act of securing data within an organisation is a costly and complicated undertaking and many online retailers prefer to engage a certified third party to help reduce this burden and move all customer payment data off-site,” Khan explains.
