Data warehouse key to IT
Data warehouse will remain a key element of the IT infrastructure, says TMC Net.
As demand for business intelligence (BI) and category of business analytics increases, flexible designs and strategies will become important for CIOs, according to Gartner, an independent research firm.
“The data warehouse remains one of the largest - if not the largest - information repository in the enterprise,” says Mark Beyer, research vice-president at Gartner.
MS enables real-time BI
Microsoft will integrate Attunity's change data capture (CDC) software with SQL Server to enable strategic capabilities for real-time BI and cloud computing, according to Integration Developer News
Bundling Attunity's CDC natively with SQL Server means IT will be able to meet users need for real-time data without suffering massive spikes or loads on CPU and bandwidth.
“We are focused on delivering a business platform that helps our customers maximise the value of their data for operations and business intelligence, on-premise and in the cloud,” says Denise Draper, product unit manager at Microsoft.
Enterprises to shift IAM efforts
Around 50% of businesses will be shifting their identity and access management (IAM) efforts to a strategic focus on intelligence from a tactical focus on administration, according to Gartner, notes Financial Tech Spotlight.
Notable project failures will be the primary cause for the shift. “The need to limit costs and deliver real world business results is forcing IAM professionals to take a more strategic approach to IAM,” says Ant Allan, research vice-president at Gartner.
“With this in mind, we have developed a set of key predictions for 2011 and beyond to aid chief information security officers and other IAM stakeholders when allocating resources and selecting IAM products and services.”
