Datacentrix services Department of Justice

Johannesburg, 14 Aug 2002

The Department of Justice has appointed infrastructure and IT solution provider, Datacentrix as its service partner, attending to both the Compaq NonStop Unix cluster system, which automates one of the department`s Financial Administration Systems (FAS), and the HP server installation, which provides the server backbone for its Digital Nervous System (DNS) across SA.

According to Mpume Dywili, service delivery manager at Datacentrix, the agreement guarantees that the department`s servers will not have a downtime exceeding four hours at any office across the nine provinces for both projects.

"On the HP side, we have installed and are maintaining 300 servers, assisting in meeting the department`s objective of a faster, more efficient and more secure justice process. The Compaq cluster essentially tracks all funds processed via the justice system."

Datacentrix will provide its services to the Department of Justice for a renewable period of three years.

"This agreement serves to highlight Datacentrix`s skills base in both the HP and Compaq arena," says Johan Schoeman, group ASP manager at Datacentrix.

The organisation is the only local HP Gold Authorised Service Partner.

"We have trained engineers on 24X7 stand-by for the department across the country, as well as a national support centre for call logging as well as stock holding facilities," adds Schoeman.
