Datanet Infrastructure Group, an IT Distribution company with branches in 5 major cities, has recently had the opportunity to donate funds to SA Medical & Education Foundation, towards equipping of the Vanguard Hospital and Mitchells Plain CHC in Cape Town.
The S.A. Medical & Education Foundation is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to equalise Healthcare for the surrounding communities. With the high incidence of HIV/TB in the province, they are working in close association with the Provincial Health Department in identifying high priority areas. In other words Community Hospital's with high HIV/TB rates that have been declared ARV sites, but do not have the infrastructure (space) or medical equipment to deliver the service.
Currently there are an average of 4000 children attending the hospital per month who are been treated in the same vicinity as the TB patients. This is an enormous health risk for the children as TB is a highly infectious disease and cross contamination is a major problem.
Dave Lello, CEO of Datanet and Shaun Marshall, FD had the privilege of meeting with the organisers of SA Medical Foundation on the 17th March 2009 to hand over the cheque. “I was very impressed with what the foundation is doing for the communities and Datanet is really pleased to have been able to contribute funds towards this project”, says Dave.
