DataPro launches tailor-made solutions for hotels

Premier Internet service provider (ISP), DataPro, has announced the launch of a wireless Internet solution for the hotel industry, providing hotels with effortless high-speed wireless or wired access and direct billing into their property management systems (PMSs).

The launch of the specialised hotel solution comes after the release of its Wireless Internet Access Solution, which is aimed at businesses in the large metropolitan areas.

According to Martin Kuhlmann, account manager at DataPro, the hotel solution is more focused than its Wireless Internet Access Solution - and is expected to prove popular in the hospitality industry. "We believe there is a big market for this type of solution and, as pioneers, we hope to capitalise on this."

He said like the Wireless Internet Access Solution, the hotel solution provides hotels with wireless hotspot connections - something that was recently declared legal by ICASA after objections from Telkom that companies deploying hotspots were operating illegally.

Hotspots enable hotel guests to connect effortlessly to the Internet via high-speed access points.

"Our hotel solution is a risk-free solution for hotels and it is completely outsourced. This means hotels are now in a position to offer their guests wireless connectivity across all their venues without having to pay costly monthly service fees. Guests can purchase access on a per minute prepaid basis like is done in the cellular phone industry.

"We believe this solution is going to elevate efficiencies for hotels and provide a higher level of customer service for their more business-focused guests. In addition, like with our Wireless Internet Access Solution, hotels are also going to accrue cost savings because 30% of the income derived from the system will be paid back to them - so they are, in effect, profit-sharers.

"Wireless technology," said Kuhlmann, "is going to become increasingly popular - and necessary. Those companies which can find ways to bring costs down, or can offer users rebates or profit-sharing, are going to have a competitive advantage over the also-rans."
