Datatec acquires Durban-based Systems Integrator Insight Technologies

Datatec, South Africa`s premier Internet-focused networking technology and services group, today announced the acquisition of Insight Technologies (Pty) Ltd, one of the Country`s leading privately-owned Systems Integrators. With the acquisition, Datatec has broadened its networking services presence to the KwaZulu Natal region. The deal will see Datatec marry Insight Technologies` systems integration, outsourcing, consulting and development skills with those of Logical (formerly Workgroup Technologies). This will result in a national group employing over fifty professionals. Insight will now be known as Logical. "One of the key focus areas for us will be to work in conjunction with Datatec/Workgroup to bring value-added services to the Datatec Channel partners. To this end we company will focus on services and will cease trading in hardware and software. " Avi Eyal, CEO, Insight Technologies Insight also operated a value-added Service Provision business targeted at large leased-line clients with VPN requirements. This business will now be incorporated into UUNET Internet Africa, also part of the Datatec group. Established in 1992, Insight Technologies is rated amongst the top Microsoft Solution Providers and Novell Systems Houses in South Africa. The company offers outsourcing, consulting, development, networking and systems integration skills to major corporate accounts, encompassing everything from the provision of network infrastructures to value added services such as consultancy, project management and applications development. The company has major vendor accreditations with Compaq, Microsoft, Novell, Cisco, 3Com, and Citrix. Insight Technologies has experienced over 100% growth year-on year since inception. Datatec Ltd is South Africa`s fastest growing technology company, which since its listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 1994 has seen its valuation increase by over 2500% and its CAGR in earnings exceed 100%. Datatec recently announced its mid-year results, posting gains of 305% and 101% in operating profit and earnings per share respectively.
